We make them ourselves
Most shops selling Kashmiri pashmina have never met the person who made it. A shawl passes from weaver to dealer to exporter to importer before it reaches a website, and by then nobody selling it can tell you whose hands it came from.
We can, because they are ours.
Kaschmirs is run by Gawher Nazir Dar, a registered artisan with the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Kashmir. The craft came from his father, Nazir Ahmad Dar, learned the way it usually is here: sitting beside someone until your hands know what to do.
Everything on this site was spun, woven and embroidered in Srinagar. Nothing is bought in finished and relabelled.
Every shawl begins as fleece combed by hand in Ladakh, spun on a wooden wheel, and woven on a pit loom in Srinagar. Nothing here is made by a machine.

What we tell you, and why
Every piece on this site lists its weight in grams, its fibre, its embroidery type and its exact dimensions.
Those are not decorative details. Weight tells you how fine the yarn is. Fibre tells you whether it is true pashmina or the coarser cashmere grade, which comes from the same goat but is not the same thing. The embroidery type tells you how many months went into it.
Most shops do not publish these numbers. We publish them because they are the difference between a real shawl and something sold under the same name. If a piece is cashmere rather than pashmina, we say cashmere.
Every shawl is one of one. When it sells, it is gone. That is not a scarcity tactic, it is simply what happens when one person embroiders one shawl at a time.
