Pashmina begins as the undercoat of the Changthangi goat, combed by hand in Ladakh at over 4,000 metres. It is hand-spun on a wooden charkha, handwoven on a pit loom in Kashmir, and finished without machine pressing. No embroidery – the cloth alone.
