Kani Jamawar Shawl

Kani is woven, not stitched. The weaver works with dozens of small wooden bobbins called kanis, building the pattern thread by thread from a coded script known as the talim. A full jamawar field of this scale advances a few centimetres a day. This shawl represents several years at the loom.
